About CK

First, it might be appropriate to say a few words about the guy that created this site.

As you might expect, I can be a pretty demanding consumer, but at the same time, I consider myself quite fair. I have a small business myself and I am quite familiar with those 1-out-of-a-thousand customers that are completely unreasonable and impossible to please no matter what you do. I assure you, I am not one of those people!

I created this site because I wanted to do something about the declining state of customer service I encounter on an all-too-frequent basis. I am old enough to remember the days when good customer service was the norm and bad experiences were the exception. Today, it seems that the opposite is true.

I know that my experiences are not unique because I talk to family and friends who have the same experiences and it seems to be reaching a point where bad customer service is expected and that there is little or nothing we can do about it. I’m hoping, with the help of this site, that I can do something about it.

My main goal is to provide information about businesses that actually do provide good customer service and good products. It seems almost impossible these days to find products made here in the U.S.A. or to talk to anyone here when we have problems or questions with those problems.

I don’t intend for this to become a thesis on what’s wrong with Corporate America, but I think it is clear to the majority of consumers in this country that both products and service have gone down hill in recent years. Corporate greed has led to the loss of jobs for millions of American workers as big companies “outsource” manufacturing and services to foreign countries where the workers are paid a fraction of the salary that was paid to the American workers the big companies were so anxious to get rid of.

By the way, I don’t blame the foreign workers for these problems. That should be obvious, but I want to make that clear. If I were in their shoes I would jump at the chance for a good-paying job if given the chance.

The blame rests squarely on the shoulders of the corporations who value the dollar above the well-being of their employees, the service they provide or the products they sell.

Despite this outpouring of doom and gloom, there are still companies out there that are doing the right thing. And by that, I mean they are providing good customer service and/or good products — even if the people answering the customer service line are half-way around the globe and their products are being made far from our shores.

As much as I’d love to hear about American Companies that employ American Workers while providing excellent products and customer service, I do live in the real world, and although those companies may still exist today, I don’t hear much about them (but I sure would like to!).

I hope to provide useful information about companies that are trustworthy, as well as those that are not. Companies doing the right thing deserve to be rewarded and consumers should be made aware of companies that do not.
