Ohio To Remove Social Security Number From Web Sites
The state of Ohio seems to be taking steps to improve its electronic security. With two recent security incidents involving personal data being lost by state employees or contractors, state officials must be feeling the heat these days.
The latest news is that the state is working on a project to remove all social security numbers from Secretary of State’s web site and has hired a contractor to get the job done by September.
Apparently, this move was prompted in part, by an Ohio truck driver that filed a law suite against the state for including his social security number on documents posted on the Secretary of State’s web site.
Kudos do that trucker for taking a stand against such stupidity.
The state is doing a good thing by taking the steps necessary to remove this information from the web site. My only question would be: Who is the idiot that decided to put it there in the first place?
