Kansas Scammers Target Elderly In Tornado-torn Area

A tornado destroyed the local pharmacy in a Kansas town and resulted in the loss of Medicare and other important records. Hearing about this, scammers began making phone calls to elderly residents to “confirm” their Medicare account numbers and trying to get personal information. The full story can be seen here.

Be Careful of Moving Brokers

I admit I had never heard of a moving broker before, but they are out there and some of them are con artists. A moving broker offers to help people find a moving company to move their belongings. Hitman E-mail Scam

I have not personally seen this one yet, but a news report from Texas tells of an e-mail scam where victims are told that a hitman has been hired to kill them, but wants to give the victim a chance to buy their way out of it and be provided with the identity of the person that supposedly hired the  hitman. As the original article reports, the best response to this kind of e-mail message is to hit “Delete.”
