I am continuing to receive penny stock scam-spam messages on a daily basis. Until quite recently I had not received any of these for months. Every so often it seems like the anti-spam tactics that are being used by my ISP break down and the level of spam rises a bit after seeing virtually no spam at all for quite some time.
As regular readers will know, I love to post this stuff for other people to find. Many people go in search of information on the Internet after receiving these kinds of messages and posting it here makes it possible for people to learn a little bit about these scams.
Here’s one I received just the other day:

As you can see, they have included the customary nonsense paragraph at the end of the message in an attempt to fool the spam filters into passing the message through to their intended recipients. Looks like it may have worked on whatever spam filter my ISP uses.
Now this next one is a little trickier since the body of the message is contained within an image. Since text inside in image cannot be easily interpreted by a spam filter, it is not likely that the message will be detected as the penny stock scam-spam that it actually is.
I decided to help them out a bit and extracted the text from the image so this information can be easily located by anyone searching for information on this scam.

You might notice that these maggots don’t even include the disclaimer that is included on the little postcards that come in the mail and that is because these crooks can hide behind fake e-mail addresses and are probably using professional spammers to spew their garbage out to millions of e-mail addresses.
It appears that this message was sent out through a mail server in Germany. Could be an open mail relay that was accidently left online or perhaps it was sent through a privately-owned PC that is part of a bot net and is being used to spew spam without the owner’s knowledge. I’m sure there are a multitide of other possibilities as well.

Surprisingly, the senders of this last message did include the legal disclaimer. They must be a bit paranoid about being traced or something.
Whatever the reason, the disclaimers are always the most interesting portion of these things to read — when they are included that is! As you can see, our dear friends who were thoughtful enough to alert us of this fabulous opportunity have been paid the tidy sum of $5,000 to promote this stock in the past and have been paid $50,000 to promote it again this time. Kind of gives you an idea what kind of money is being made by the low-life individuals who are behind these promotions.
Sadly, it appears that these pump-and-dump promotions really do work and are able to tap into the seemingly endless supply of naive investors out there who will lose money by acting on these messages.
