I guess scammers must be enjoying some level of success with these scam emails since I seem to be receiving more of them in recent days. There is a thread on Reddit where some people admit to being victimized by these kinds of scams.
Once again, at least with this particular email, the scammers give themselves away. If you are a native speaker of English you should easily recognize the clues in this email that should raise a lot of red flags. Again, I am not going to go into detail about what they did wrong since I do not want to educate scammers.
Everyone online has likely to have received numerous email messages from legitimate organization they have dealt with. A legitimate message does not read the same way this one does. I am not sure why these scammers seem so bad at crafting messages that are supposed to look legitimate but I am thankful that is the case most of the time.
The fake urgency they use to pressure potential victims into falling for the scam is also a useful clue. Would a legitimate company give you just two days to withdraw funds?
As always, these scam emails include links they want you to click on that will probably bring you to a very authentic-looking website that is set up for the sole purpose of stealing your personal information or other information that will allow them to access your online accounts or crypto currency wallets.
It’s interesting that the scammers that sent this one either do not have the same information as the previous one I posted here or are just to lazy to personalize each message. Being addressed as “Bittrex User” seems far less effective than the previous one that went through the trouble of including my full name. I do still wonder if the scammers behind that previous message somehow got their hands on Bittrex user account data.
