Spring Must Be Pump And Dump Season!

I have have noticed a substantial increase in the amount of penny stock scam-spam that has been showing up in both my e-mail inbox and my “real” U.S. Mail delivery lately. I guess spring must be the time when the pump-and-dump artists come out from under the rocks they have been hiding under during the winter.

I realize that it is not quite spring yet, but judging from the recent weather here in the northeast and some newly-arrived migratory birds, spring is getting very close.

Here is the inside content of the latest pump-and-dump postcard that arrived with my normal mail delivery on Saturday. It is for a company called Net2Auction (Symbol: NAUC).

NUAC could be a fabulous company for all I know, and it could indeed be poised to rocket to the moon. It is also possible that they are on the verge of going out of business. Whatever the truth may be, you could not count on people like the ones who sent this crap out to tell you the truth about anything. Their goal is to get people buying this stock and they couldn’t care less if every investor who buys in loses their shirt, their house, their car and their dog.

This is pretty much the typical pump-and-dump hype you expect from scumbags like this. Below you will see more hype that was printed on the back of the postcard-type mailing I received.

Now we come to what is the absolute most important section of this mailing and the only section you should pay attention to at all. Below you will find the front of the postcard.

nauc front content

At the bottom of the postcard, under my name an address (intentionally blurred) you will see a paragraph of text printed with very small text. The fact that it is on the front of the postcard — where it it less likely to be noticed — and that such small text was used to print it is no accident. This is the one paragraph the senders do not want you to read. It’s the mandatory disclaimer they are forced to print by law, and it pretty much admits that the content of this mailing is a bunch of fantasy and was paid for by some third party who hopes to make a bundle from a bunch of investors who are naive enough to believe this load of crap and buy this stock.

For those of you without auto-zoom vision, here is a much more readable version of that crucial paragraph:

“DISCLAIMER: This document is a publication of American Uptrend. American Uptrend is not a registered financial advisory. This document was not published by NAUC, and NAUC has no involvement in the publication of this document. The information presented here is not an offer to buy or sell securities. Since American Uptrend has received this information from sources other than the company, there is no representation, warranty, or guarantee as to the accuracy of the information contained herein. American Uptrend contains forward looking statements, and the company’s actual results may differ materially. Penny stocks are considered to be highly speculative and may be unsuitable for all but the very aggressive investors. American Uptrend may hold positions in companies mentioned and may buy or sell at any time, which may affect the share price. The profile of NAUC is a paid advertisement by a third party shareholder to American Uptrend in the amount of one million shares that need to be sold to pay for the cost of this advertising. The target price was determined arbitrarily and may fluctuate; please always consult a registered financial advisor before making any decisions.”

I will probably post more of these as they arrive since I know there are people out there who search for information about these scams on the Internet when they receive these things. Gee, I hope that doesn’t upset the folks at “American Uptrend” too much. Yeah, right.
